It was second time lucky for Scrimshaw Artworks Inc. as the Duck Lake based firm captured a Saskatchewan Chamber of Commerce Achievement for Business Excellence (ABEX) award.

The company earned the "Community Involvement" category award, which was presented at the annual ABEX awards dinner in Regina.

This was the second year Scrimshaw Artworks Inc. has been nominated for the award. The firm was nominated last year as well, for a business which demonstrated "exceptional performance in its support of the arts and culture, amateur sports, education or voluntary groups".

Competition in the category included Co-operators Life Insurance Company, Regina, for work in education, including the "WiseRider" program; Global Television, Saskatoon, for contributions to organizations and services; Fifth Avenue Collections, Moose Jaw, for donations of cash, jewelry, time and money to community initiatives; zu.com communications inc., Saskatoon, for sponsorship of community events and organizations, as well as donations of money, time, and talent; and Weyerhaeuser Company Limited.

Scrimshaw Artworks Inc. was selected for its donations of artwork and employee time for fundraising and prizes for various community activities.
